Individual programs are designed for each group utilising each teacher’s particular style.

Each program is based on:

  • A love of learning and discovery by offering a wide range of play based experiences
  • A curriculum centred on creative experiences where children’s individual interests, ideas, culture and abilities are realised and encouraged
  • Learning spaces that inspire children aesthetically and intellectually: spaces that reinforce connections with their home, family, community and the world
  • An early learning setting that is sensitive to the enormous developmental changes that occur during the early years: by acknowledging the children’s need for exploration, experimentation and discovery as their vocabulary and intellectual skills expand rapidly
  • A balance between each child striving for their independence and their need for continual reassurance
  • Outdoor and Indoor spaces that are designed to engage every child in quality experiences in both built and natural environments which provide a rich and diverse range of experiences.
  • Children are encouraged to become environmentally responsible and to show respect for the environment.
  • Promoting each child’s agency, enabling them to make choices and decisions which influence events and their world.

Auburn South Preschool has decided to ‘opt in’ to the ‘Free Kinder’ initiative for 2024, which allows for up to 15 hours of free kinder for 3 and 4 year old children.

This initiative announced by the Victorian Government provides an additional $2500 per child per year, above the set per capita funding, to pass on as Fee reductions to families at participating services.

This additional funding however falls short of the Preschools operational costs, in delivering our 16 hours of high-quality programs, highly qualified teaching staff, lower class sizes, educators above ratio requirements, our comprehensive incursion program, and building and playground upgrades.

To maintain our existing program delivery, including the same level of educating staff, additional hours across the year, smaller class sizes, our incursion program and other inclusions, we will be requesting families provide a voluntary donation, twice per year, to allow us to continue our current high standard of service delivery.

Holding Deposit

A $900 holding deposit is payable on accepting a place at our service. This holding deposit ensures your child’s position is held with Auburn South Preschool in the year prior, and is considered non-refundable prior to starting at the centre. Once started, the holding deposit will be requested as the initial voluntary donation towards the additional components of our programs, or may be refunded.

The Department of Education (DET) provides per capita funding for each child enrolled and
attending kindergarten in the two years before school.  The funding is a contribution towards
meeting the cost of the kindergarten program and is based on the number of children enrolled
in the kindergarten. This funding however, does not cover the full operating costs. The remaining
funds come from parent fees and fundraising.
In 2023 Auburn South Preschool is not a participating service in the Victorian Governments Free
Kinder initiative having Opted-Out.
