Auburn South Preschool is part of the Boroondara Kindergarten Central Registration Scheme (CRS). Information about enrolment eligibility, member kindergarten programs and the registration form can be found on the Kindergarten pages and the Member Kindergarten pages at the City of Boroondara website. The Central Registration Scheme encourage families to express interest in attending kindergarten from birth. This enables you to receive important updates from the Central Registration Scheme, including information about when to register, and attending open days.

Families can submit their Expressions of interest– year-round from birth, for Auburn South Preschool through the kindergarten Central Registration Scheme, managed by the City of Boroondara. Submit your Expression of Interest online by visiting www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/kindergarten

Expression of Interest for our kindergarten can be made by completing the form via the link https://forms.enrolnow.com.au/233508220296958. Please note that date of application is no longer a selection criteria.

Registrations– will occur between 1 May and 30 June to attend in the next year.  If you’ve already expressed interest, you don’t need to do anything further – the Central Registration Scheme will email you a link to Register on 1 May.

The Department of Education (DE) which provides kinder funding, advise that families give consideration to the best timing for their child to begin kindergarten, particularly if they will be younger. Families with children born between January 31 and April 30 need to make an informed decision about the best time to start, and that those conversations should occur with centres before the child starts kindergarten.

This is particularly important to consider for 3 year olds who are unable to attend until the child turns 3 years of age, who may miss some or all of Term 1 depending on their date of birth.

There is no longer an option for 3 year olds to repeat kindergarten. Once a child is included in the 3 year old enrolment data, they must proceed on to 4 year old kinder the following year. Children can only withdraw and defer at the start of the year prior to the data collection, on advice of the kinder teachers (generally before early-mid March), to be eligible to access the funded 3-year-old program the following year instead.

Children who are assessed as requiring a repeat year of 4 year old kinder may be eligible to receive another funded year. To receive a second year of funding, your child would need to be assessed and identified as having two areas of developmental delay. This often requires specialist involvement. Being too young is not an eligible criteria for a repeat year.

Upon successful application to our Preschool you will be invited to the end of year Annual General Meeting (AGM). Here you can collect your Enrolment package which contains important information, orientation session dates and forms that will need to be filled out and returned before kindergarten commences the following year.

An Orientation Day and sessions based on a staggered start timetable will be held at the beginning of the year to familiarise yourself with our Preschool. Here you will have an opportunity to meet the teachers, parents and the children that will be in your child’s group.

The Preschool holds an Open Day every year and we encourage you come along and visit our wonderful centre.

No Jab No Play – Information for Parents

Since 1 January 2016, all parents/guardians seeking to enrol their child at an early childhood service in Victoria must provide evidence that their child is fully immunised for their age OR on a vaccination catch-up program OR unable to be fully immunised for medical reasons.
